What to write about...

Especially if I am going to finish my trope_bingo card by Halloween to whatever extent I can, I have to write pretty fast. I am sitting here at work trying to brainstorm what I could write in my next break or tonight...

But I find that I like so many things in passing that it is hard to settle on what fandom to write for any given prompt. Sometimes it as an abundance of choices while other times it's like "what do I even like again?"

I guess so far I am thinking I might like to write something for:

- Good Omens
- Doctor Who
- White Collar


But like there are way more than that??? And I just wrote one for AoS and could do more. But yikes my brain. I want to sleep forever.

You could try randomizing it? Give all the fandoms you might want to write a number, give your tropes a number, then roll the dice at random.org to match a fandom plus prompt. (I've done this before to give myself inspiration...)

That's a good idea! I guess my brain just goes blank when I try to think about all the fandoms that I have considered writing for at some point. Sort of like when someone asks you to list all the books you've read or every song you've ever considered a favorite...

I used to keep a list. I should do that again.

You could always try it for the three you have listed in this post. If they're at the top of your mind, they're probably the fandoms you're most interested in writing for right now anyway?

Or you could ask your f-list for requests?

If you have muse for Good Omens, I'd definitely recommend jumping into it there. The fandom for it is pretty great right now, and there's a lot of hunger for everything there.

Definitely! And, like, I enjoy being able to get some feedback from a currently-active community. However, it's also intimidating given the way active fandoms tend to be full of a lot of judgmental people in addition to everyone who's there to have fun. Never know what you're going to do to get cancelled...

I find Good Omens really fun to write, so if you do too, that might be a good place to start.

I've been writing it in RP with my best friend, and that is a lot of fun. However, it makes me wonder if it's kind of bigger than I can handle by myself. I know that sounds silly, but I get anxiety about certain thing that are currently popular even when I like them. Which is, you know, really inconvenient given a desire for feedback x.x

I can understand that. I was nervous when I first started writing them, it's such a huge and long-established fandom and I'm not actually in the fandom, I haven't even read much of it. I'm only writing short things, I haven't had the fortitude to try anything long and involved. It gets easier, though.

For sure! I have written one that's still under wraps. But even my short-intended things turn into... several thousand words.
