It was pretty obvious by this point that the company that employed me in Japan was not going to be getting anyone from out of the country to work for them this May. Early this year, there was some hope, but Japan has continued to spin around in circles and do even worse than the US about vaccine rollout in spite of the fact that they keep living in a fantasy that they're somehow going to hold the Olympics there this year whilst having all foreign visas suspended.

I emailed my recruiter the other day on the off-hope that it might be good news, but she finally got back to me and said they'd like to consider me for the fall.

Which yeah, sure, whatever.

But that and the reason that the answer is no for now (visa suspension) means that I don't have a ton of choices for employment.

I applied to one potentially promising online thing to make some actual pocket change which isn't just pennies, but we'll have to see.

Otherwise, there are just no jobs in my field here in Tennessee that I have any way of getting to, and it seems like the international EFL market is stuck spinning in circles.

I knew this was how it was going to go, but I still feel pretty deflated.
