That description of the article sounds really interesting and like something I would tend to agree with. It really is baffling.

I think that the reason that people in some protestant circles especially latch onto stuff like Narnia is that they have this tendency to want to surround their children with a Moat of Christian Influence as though protecting them from mainstream (pop) culture will make it more likely that they'll be converted Christians as they age. I think that this backfires more often than not, and while my parents did occasionally create a content restriction when I was growing up, for the most part they didn't try to Brand My Life with the Christian Lifestyle Brand and I hated hanging around families/kids who had that going on. I could tell even as a child that it was making a bunch of kids who parroted their parents' for their own safety who would ultimately renounce their beliefs as something they had to do to survive, which is the opposite of doing your faith's healthy practice a service. Because of the Christian symbols, parents Like That deem Narnia "safe" no matter how many interestingly troubling things there are in it if one thinks about it for five minutes beyond just absorbing the content.

Apparently I already watched that The Narnia Code video in like 2011??? I was looking at the notes for the Narnia fic I am mulling over writing or not, and I found that I had mentioned watching it.

I do not remember that at all.

Weird what depression brain does to people.
