Date: 2018-12-27 04:57 am (UTC)From:Dropping a comment here just to say that YGO was huge for me too, and I never played the cards seriously either. I pretty much had them so my neighbor and I could pretend to have duels just like in the show. We would actually find card combos that would be really flashy and suprising and then stack our decks so we could act out our own little show. Looking back I can't believe we did that, how ridiculous?? (Kind of precious too though, honestly kids have so much time on their hands!)
I was also very disappointed by AoS, but mostly because I was expecting it to be a show about, well...agents. Of S.H.I.E.L.D. People who work for a dodgy organization ad try to do good even though they know that they're not always the good guys. Like Law & Order but with more super heroes. Obviously, that's not what the show turned out to be. ahaha.
I think they just had this insane false advertising problem. Every twist changed the show into something totally different, and they always put in crazy twists right when we had gotten comfortable with the status quo. Makes it really hard to keep caring about a show when all the things you liked about it can just disappear or change into something else with no warning.
Thanks for taking the time to write up your thoughts, I find them very interesting reads.
