Finished my fic for
trickortreatex ages early! I hope that it works for my recipient. I didn't really have anything in common with them in terms of ship vibes, but it's a single character matching fic. I tried to write something that was gen but hit on emotional stuff they seemed into with a bit of a darker vibe given the trick or treat theme.

Date: 2019-09-30 06:41 am (UTC)From:In any case, what I did end up writing MIGHT have some pre-femslash tones in it, though it would be for a ship the recipient did not mention. She requested that non-requested romantic ships not be the focus of the story, but it was very much a gen sort of character study thing... Anyway, I am biting my nails hoping recipient does not think I was a jerk. I really did try!

Date: 2019-09-30 05:09 pm (UTC)From:It seems to me like there is more (real or perceived) pressure to be into all the female characters, to slash them, and if one doesn't one is breaking some rule. Maybe it's the guilt I put on myself, for being fannish about mostly male dominated shows/movies. But I know I have unusual tastes anyway, so I'm rarely into any of the popular fandoms. I guess the point of this long comment is that we can't force ourselves to like certain things, characters, or pairings. In the old days, fandom was mainly a hobby, hidden away. Now it's become much more political. But in the end, it's still a hobby.
