The Final Monday
Jul. 8th, 2019 01:14 pmToday marks the last Monday I will have for this semester at this job.
I have agreed to recontract for another semester which will begin in mid-September. This makes me nervous about asking my crush person if he wants to keep in touch. It is very obvious that my employer would love it if they could keep us from ever keeping in touch with our present or even former students because they are so concerned with keeping a stainless reputation. I learned from a coworker that apparently he heard the policy used to be quite a bit different, but some man obviously made some female student deeply uncomfortable in the midst of a flirtationship and ruined it for everyone.
On the one hand while I feel that there is nothing ethically wrong with asking if he wants to keep in touch, I HATE being a rulebreaker even when the rules don't make sense. I am pretty flexible myself, but then there is just this block, and I really don't want to feel guilty. There is also the fact that if they found out next semester I could get in trouble, but that shouldn't happen if I am not stupid?
And honestly this feels pretty melodramatic for just trying to keep in touch with someone I like without any idea if it will ever go anywhere.
I am so looking forward to going home for a while, though. Except for at work, I am so lonely, and I want a computer back so badly. I really miss fandom engagement.
