Challenge #1

In your own space, introduce yourself!

I have a sticky post that I made last year for Snowflake Challenge. It includes a link to a fandom masterpost which may or may not be entirely comprehensive but which I've tried to make pretty thorough. I also have a shipping masterpost. My approach to fandom is very relationship-based, whether it be romantic or platonic. I like romantic love as much as the next fan-person, but I am also a sucker for found families. Occasionally this sort of conflates and overlaps with polyships. No matter what a story is about, I am there for the character interactions. For example, while I have been into the MCU and The Hunger games movies over the past decade, if I was at the movie theatre and needed to go to the restroom, I would wait until the big battle scenes rather than miss the quiet character interaction scenes.

On this blog, I talk about my personal life and concerns. I try to use it as a space to work on my mental health and get to know myself. I want to feel like I am contributing to fandom again, but I feel like I need to ground myself more before I can feel confident moving forward with that.

I am supposedly a teacher by trade. I spend about six months of the past year in Japan teaching English to university students. I am about to start an interim position for a second-grade teacher on Monday. I just bought a mic with the hope of possibly starting to make some commentary-youtube type things. I watch them a lot, and I feel like it might be a useful and empowering use of my time if I could do that. Fingers crossed it works out.

I make most of my posts public, but from time to time I post something access-locked. We will see what happens in the future! I usually give access reciprocally. I try not to grant access to minors as an extra safe-guard, but I also use the adult content warning when it is possible, though I have noticed it sometimes it breaks the links.

This is a mixture of talk about fandom as a phenomenon and real life right now. I really hope to start talking about specific investment and fandoms again, but it is emotionally difficult to key in when everything feels in flux. If you are here for that, then feel free to stick around!

Some demographic information about me: My pronouns are she/her. I'm a cis female. I'm bi, but chronically single. I am a Christian and politically left-leaning, but I'm not full-on into anarchy. I like food, dogs, and small cities. I really hope that I find my place in the world this decade...
